Officially finished ALTERING the bridesmaid dresses on Wednesday. Took two nights of going to bed at midnight. Most difficult part was sewing on the dress for Alicia without her present (she's from Trinidad), but she arrived in town safely, tried on her dress today and it fits her almost perfectly Whew....just going to take in the side a tiny hair in one area and vahlah! The other bridesmaid dress is also done, stick a fork in it! The full dress design to be seen at the wedding!
Made the straps into the M shape and added on the jewel bling. Sonia, the bride, is really great, she let me have "fashion license" to alter these dresses from their original form, and fortunately, she liked the end result.
Trying on all of the dresses at about midnight after hours of altering them. ha, ha....don't know why there was a smirk on my face but love the tired look. One eye is all droopy and the left side of my face looks paralyzed. ha, ha! Too funny not to share.
My house looks like a fabric factory. NO GUESTS allowed in this week!
Sonia, the bride, has awesome decor plans for her wedding that involved sewing, and with the dress alterations and other things there was no way they were going to get done by me, so I showed her how to use my sewing machine, and I have to brag on my new sister, she is very smart....for someone who hasn't really ever sewn before, after about one minute she was sewing her own decoration all by herself. I think we have a new seamstress in the family!
She's sewing so well, she even did it with a smile!
Don't get excited, no wedding dress pics where you can actually see the dress until the bride walks down the aisle on the wedding day! The suspense! In the meantime, FINALLY this Wednesday night I began working on the wedding dress alterations and add ons. Almost done, but around 11PM I crashed and had to put the wedding dress down and go to bed.
Sewing the inside of the dress. And you thought you were seeing the dress...nope only the inside :-)! Will post pics of the dress, the outside of it after the wedding. It's beautiful with lots of bling! :-) Sonia chose a great dress! Can't wait for people to see it! The bride dressed in fine white linen is biblical afterall! BTW--This is how I look at 11PM after sewing for hours. LOVE the band aids on the fingers.. Bandaids keep one from bleeding on a white wedding dress after pricking themselves a few times with the needle! :-)
Another teaser shot of the inside of the dress! :-) The bride COMING down the aisle SOON with the outside of the dress fully sewn and shown! :-)
Love the pics! Great job Carolyn!
