A Fun Weekend of Sewing!

This past weekend can be summed up in one BIG WORD...SEWING!!!!  It was hard work, but so much fun.  My mom came over to my house, and we had a girls day sewing party!   My house looks like "Hurricane David Musical" passed through it shown in the pics below.  Meanwhile, my vacuum is enjoying its break.  No use in vacuuming while sewing...threads everywhere, fabric everywhere, and beware to all guests entering my home.....probably straight pins everywhere...so far I haven't stepped or sat on any!  :-)!

Ever wondered what 7 yards of fabric straight looks like?!  :-)  Ran out of fabric and wanted to get as many people's tunics that I have on my list sewn as possible while I was at home on Sunday all day, so I went to fabric store and bought 7 yards shown above.  Takes so much fabric to make tunics...about 2 yards for each since the fabric is so skinny, and those of us making them are not wasting fabric either.  Wow!!
Love my ole faithful Zebra decorated sewing machine!  It's NOT an expensive machine at all, but it works great and I've even dropped it before in years past and it's solid!
Rainbow of blue fabric for the tunics in the making all different shades of blue!  If you look closely, even the dark blue fabric are different shades. Cool!
Can't neglect my Etsy shop.  A gal ordered this CCoatsOfManyColours Design from me a few weeks back for her wedding, and her original order got lost, so I sewed her these as a replacement.  Hope she likes!  I originally created this design for my brother's wedding.

All packaged up and ready to ship!

Going back to Saturday evening...I shot this pic of me wearing the "shown on TV" "bump it up" for women's hair.  It's a quick way for a woman to wear their hair up in an elegant way without taking too much time.
 Above:  Front View
Below:  Back View....don't like the coloring of the back view....makes my hair look like's it's brown with gray hair.....WHAT....I don't have gray hair and the only time my hair is brown is when it's dirty.  ha, ha!....don't know what was up w/my camera.

How the bump it up looks out of hair...I used the middle sized one in the pics shown above.

Below:  When I took my shoes off the other day they somehow landed like this.  Either sewing all day drove me out of my head, or my artistic brain was just at it's peak, b/c I had to get a fashion photo of my shoes since I didn't pose them like this..it's all natural.  :-)!

A Fun Food Post!

It's been awhile since I've blogged about food.  After The Cookbook of Culinary Elegance came out I was "burnt out" of the kitchen for awhile, and then got caught up in dvlping other talents, but we all have to eat, and I LOVE the culinary arts, so here is a small food post!
I made homemade peanut butter cups for the first time in my life.  They aren't too pretty...was sewing and trying to make them at the same time...aka sticky fingers and sewing don't mix, so I didn't smooth the chocolate down, but they taste okay.  A little on the sweet side to me though, so next time I'll cut back on the sugar some.
..bought cups for the homemade candy, and then melted chocolate.  Just used chocolate chips...cheap and fast!...added oil to the chocolate and melted on low heat in glass saucepan stirring constantly.  Chocolate burns so easy!

poured a little bit of chocolate into the bottom of each candy holder and let sit until chocolate hardened on the bottom.

Melted 1 cup of peanut butter over low heat until it was of consistency to stir easily, then melted 3 tbsp of butter, 1/2 cup of confectioners sugar...next time I'll pull back on the sugar a bit, and then added salt to taste
While peanut butter mixture was still manageable....added a dollop of it on top of the hardened chocolate.  Made sure to make sure the peanut butter mixture didn't touch the sides to allow room for the chocolate to fill around it.  Next poured chocolate on top of everything and let harden.  You are suppose to smooth the chocolate over so that it's pretty looking like the store bought kind, but I already explained above why I didn't, so mine are ugly!  ha, ha!

 finished result!
Next food project of the week......so I pulled my dehydrator out of the closet and want to start dehydrating food!  I want to make beef jerky for the first time, so I bought beef sirloin....they say that's the best cut of beef to make jerky b/c of it's low in fat content.  I will be hitting Mrs. Melissa Burks up for how to season my jerky and dehydrate it properly in my dehydrator shown above so I don't kill myself with meat bacteria, or anyone else who may eat my jerky!

Deepika Azariah's AMAZING healthy dinner that she cooked in her slow cooker last week.  Was yummy.  I'm such a health nut that I loved this, and food is so much healthier when cooked in a slow cooked method since nutrients stay in a bit more.
Paulette Corey's WAY COOL own cake design.  She a computer programmer, so she designed an apple cake, a windows cake, and don't ask me what the middle cake is....If you know what it is, then you're a computer nerd!
Tried my hands at using up millet and pasta with a ground beef mix that I put garlic, onions, and other natural seasonings in....final result....BOO...BLAND!  BTW--the millet is what looks like rice, it's not rice, it's millet.

Felt like taking an abstract shot of pineapple pieces to be discarded.  It's the time of year when berries and fruit are way too expensive to buy fresh, but fresh pineapple is available.  We all know blueberries are a super food...aka one of the healthiest foods on planet Earth, but summer's over.  Pineapple is so healthy too, so many health benefits, loaded in vitamin C.......anti-oxidant.......strengthens bones....improves digestion....etc......so this time of year is pineapple time in my house!
A week or two ago I posted a pic of the other great Pyrenees dog that needed attention...This past week, it was the other one that wanted attention.  This one is my favorite...she's so sweet natured!

Fun Sunday Morning---David Musical Choreography Practice

Sunday Morning Part 1--David Musical Choreography practice led by Mrs. Flurry.  Fun dance practice.

Thrilled to have the opportunity to dance a little and then SHAKE A TAMBOURINE to music that Mr. Malone wrote with some others.  Good stuff!  I think sometimes at HQ it's easy to take blessings like this for granted, but I try not to do so.
...and I don't know what the deal is, but I always seen to accidentally get a "foot shot" with my camera phone when taking practice photos. Since I'm artistic minded I kind of like the abstract accidental shots though....so the featured feet of this week are Danielle Lamberth's foot with her stylish dance shoe, and my own bare foot.  :-)!  the tambourine adds artistic character to this pic.  :-)!

I didn't run the 5K after dance practice like almost everyone else at HQ.  Shame on me, but things to do at home.  Came home to one of the great Pyrenees dogs who needed some good old fashion attention so I obliged.  :-) Dogs are so loyal and sweet nature d.  I'm glad God created them for us to enjoy.

A Nice Week!

Since I was sick the day of the first concert of this season at Armstrong Auditorium, it was great to be "back in business" last night at the second concert of this season.  This year Sherry Beezley (above) and I are "partners in time not crime" working together in the Claims department at all of the concerts.  It's nice to work with Sherry.  She is so sweet, kind, and it's neat to work with another Beezley at the concerts b/c 3 years ago I worked with her big sister Jessie at the concerts.  Love those Beezley's!  Sherry took the pic of me below.  Fun work buddy, great concert, great night it was!

My dad surprised me with roses yesterday, so I put them in my cool leopard mug :-) and they are on display at the HQ Hall of Ad entrance for all to see.  :-)!
Once a week Deepika Azariah and I have been getting together after work at her house since she lives so close to the campus.  She's been so kind cooking dinner for me on the day we get together before we head to David Musical practice, but this past week I cooked for her....so much fun.  Her roommate, Whitney Kelsey, also cooked that same night.  Shown are both of the dishes.  Yummy.  I started Photoshopping them and didn't finish, but am posting them unfinished anyway!
