Sister Time!

Above is a pic from last summer at my brother and sister in laws wedding.

So life has been busy for everyone and just yesterday my sister in law and I were thinking we need to take some time out and have a "sisters day."  I'm trying to figure out what we can do.  I realize I've become a "home body."  The best fun to me is being at home with a day off work and also with a clean house and a fun craft project to work on and ending the day with maybe a glass of wine, but that sounds boring.  We're going out of the country this year later on w/many others, so that will be fun, but in the meantime it will be fun to see what we end up doing here and now!

Bake Off 2013 Photos!--A Fun Evening

Had the Bake Off 2013 last night at my place.  It went extremely well.
Above is a group photo of everyone.  We had a lot of fun!
These and a few more pics are up on my password protected site of:  www.royaltruecolours.com
Jamie Hawkins, Jeremiah Jacques, Reniel Padua, and Benjamin Tauer fill out a fun game questionnaire that we played later on that evening.
The Eagle has landed!  Tasha Eagle just after she has arrived.
I really like this pic of Paulette Corey working on the game questionnaire!
Justin Goodearl and Jordanya Rouzer smile
Sean Davison tries to avoid the camera, but that is impossible to do with me around!  :-)
Sharalee Fraser and others working on the game papers and chatting before dinner.
Let the Judging Begin!  Joel Hudson-Stewart and Justin Goodearl who by the way has a black eye from trying to do gymnastics, ha, ha, no he didn't get punched by anyone, begin to judge some of the desserts along with the other judges..
All of the judges worked hard, and took their job very seriously to be fair.  Took them a bit of time to decide the winner.  Let's see the judges were Joel Hudson-Stewart, Reniel Padua, Anthony Chibarirwe, Grant Turgeon, and Justin Goodearl.  Such a great act of sacrificing service they had to perform in eating desserts.  :-)!
Okay, so Grant might get me for posting this pic, but as you can see this job was "so difficult" tasting and judging yummy desserts.  :-)!  BTW--Winston Schlote baked the cake from scratch that you see in the front.  He got second place.
Grant announces the winning dessert to everyone...drum roll please.
The winning dessert was Tasha Eagle's and Danielle Underwood's cupcakes!  They worked hard on them and they were yummy!
I like this pic of Chelsea Cocomise and Winston Schlote.  They, along with everyone else look so happy.  That's great!
After the judging we played a game that I made up called "Building up the Family."  It's where everyone anonymously had to write down their favorite character quality of everyone there except themselves(what you saw on earlier pics), and then we put them in a big bowl, shown with Reniel above, and we took turns randomly pulling each one out.  We would read them and try to figure out who the person was according to their character quality that was being read.  We learned a lot about each other in this way, and it was an interesting way to see what others thought about us.  Fun game!
 Still playing the game
....and still playing the game...it's Tasha's turn. :-)

Food prep for pizza...So fun, I'm so addicted to cooking.  Love it!!!
Everything went well, but I pulled one pizza from the oven too fast and the crust wasn't completely done, but people still ate it.  I only noticed after folks had gone through, but oh well, the rest were in tact!  :-)

A trick that my high school home ec teacher showed me, put corn meal on the bottom of the pizza pan to add texture.

Spiced up the lemonade with strawberries on the cups.  :-)
Thanks for Paulette for helping me top the pizza's when I was running late in getting things in order before the rest of the guests arrived.

I cook so much I've gotten absent minded.  I was "jamming" to music while cutting up onions and was cutting to the beat of the music without looking at what I was doing when the knife came down and my exact thought was "uh oh, that didn't feel like the onion that I cut."  I'm okay though, my thumb just looks ugly and it's what slowed me down putting me behind in getting things ready on time.  Paulette saved me!  Thanks again P!

 The cool game questionnaire!
I'm keeping my answers that others wrote from the game.  I heard some others are keeping theirs too.  It's nice to know what strengths you have to work on them to serve others even greater.  A great night thanks to and b/c of the wonderful friends who attended!

Our Father's Day

Father's Day went great!  My mom and I cooked a hearty brunch for my dad at their house, and we ended up talking at the dining table from 9:30am until lunch time.  My brother and sister in law took him out to dinner at Golden Corral later on that evening.  My mom said dad was in "food heaven" pardon the expression yesterday.  He said he liked everything and it was a fun day to spend with the family!  Priceless day.
B/c it was a special occasion I put a little sin on the table. ha, ha!  White flour with sugar apple turnovers.
Pic of dad and mom.

Back to Piano Practicing!

There are too many things to do and too little time.  One of the BEST things I've done this year is basically cut out TV watching.  My motto is rather than spending a lot of time watching others lives that aren't even real I'm out there living my own real life.  Putting God first in life in prayers and Bible study, and then working, and developing my talents w/the hobby shops, and keeping my house up pretty much makes for a full schedule for me, but it has left little time for re-developing my musical skills that I once had not great, but pretty well.  I started to work on re-developing my piano playing about 3 years ago, and then life as mentioned above rooted that out, but this year I've been really getting back into it, my poor flute though, it will be next!  Anyway, above is a video of me practicing a song entieled Schezino and also me practicing a melody of some of the hymns I think 2 or 3 years ago.  Today on Sunday I'm practicing this song once again to begin perfecting it and later on this week plan to work on practicing the hymns A LOT more.  When I do I will post an updated video maybe in a week or two.  Randomly as time allows I may post an older video of other songs that I was once working on, and then post an updated more perfected video.  This will replace my once piano practicing blog.  Besides putting self pressure on myself by going public with my practice sessions maybe this will also give some people a little entertainment to enjoy on Sunday whether it be a laugh at wow, she sounded awful, or wow she's getting better.  ha, ha, enjoy!

THANKS!!!---a cool gift!

A loooong time friend, Anita Barkei....okay, a long time great friend who I was very honored to serve as her maid of honor in her wedding sent me a message today to check my physical mail.  I'm horrible about checking my physical mailbox, honestly haven't checked my mailbox in over a week, but of course did in excitement realizing she had sent something.  When I got home I found this African Animal CUPCAKE SET with a card from Anita in my mailbox.  I LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!...it's got toothpicks in it too with African animals, and on the bottom, as shown on each cupcake paper holder is also an animal.  THANK YOU SO MUCH.  I really like the African safari animals AND it's something that I can use to serve others in making cupcakes for them knowing how much I LOVE the culinary arts!!!  I'll have to figure out a good time to use them!  I love the gift, but more importantly it is VERY NICE to know that you have friends that truly agape love you and think about you sometimes.  Anita has always been kind like this.  I only hope that I am similar in this fashion of giving.  Definitely try to be.  Wow!!!

A Fabulous Dinner and Paula Powell's New Home!

Had a fabulous dinner at Paula Powell's new home last night!  I was the definite baby of the group...loved it!  Shown Above:  Cool Plate!
I really enjoyed finding her home; it was like a free music theory lesson!  All of the street names were musical names....like....turn right on Adagio LN, turn right on Sonatina St, turn right on Allergando St etc and no those are not in the right order and not even in right/left directions so that a pycho won't read this and be able to find her home, but you get the gist...ha, ha....Lovely!
Ray and Jackie Wickware at the dinner  It was really great to be in company with people with more age and lots more wisdom than me.  I always feel like I learn a lot from the more mature age group.  Fun!
 Salad Course
We had lemon and mango (mango not shown) gelato in between courses to cleanse our pallets!
 Mr. Middleton
 Yummy Indian Bread
Paula Powell herself, the hostess!  Margaret McCarty was also in attendance....don't know why my camera didn't catch the photo that I THOUGHT I got of her!

Yours truly, the definite baby of the group!
 Scalloped Potatoes
 Yummy, Yummy Brisket!!!!
Berries for dessert
