Behind The Scenes With The Wedding Seamstresses! :-)

Officially finished ALTERING the bridesmaid dresses on Wednesday.  Took two nights of going to bed at midnight.  Most difficult part was sewing on the dress for Alicia without her present (she's from Trinidad), but she arrived in town safely, tried on her dress today and it fits her almost perfectly Whew....just going to take in the side a tiny hair in one area and vahlah!  The other bridesmaid dress is also done, stick a fork in it!  The full dress design to be seen at the wedding!
Made the straps into the M shape and added on the jewel bling.  Sonia, the bride, is really great, she let me have "fashion license" to alter these dresses from their original form, and fortunately, she liked the end result.
Trying on all of the dresses at about midnight after hours of altering them.  ha, ha....don't know why there was a smirk on my face but love the tired look.  One eye is all droopy and the left side of my face looks paralyzed.  ha, ha!  Too funny not to share.
My house looks like a fabric factory.  NO GUESTS allowed in this week!
Sonia, the bride, has awesome decor plans for her wedding that involved sewing, and with the dress alterations and other things there was no way they were going to get done by me, so I showed her how to use my sewing machine, and I have to brag on my new sister, she is very smart....for someone who hasn't really ever sewn before, after about one minute she was sewing her own decoration all by herself.  I think we have a new seamstress in the family!
She's sewing so well, she even did it with a smile!
Don't get excited, no wedding dress pics where you can actually see the dress until the bride walks down the aisle on the wedding day!  The suspense!  In the meantime, FINALLY this Wednesday night I began working on the wedding dress alterations and add ons.  Almost done, but around 11PM I crashed and had to put the wedding dress down and go to bed.

Sewing the inside of the dress.  And you thought you were seeing the dress...nope only the inside  :-)!  Will post pics of the dress, the outside of it after the wedding.  It's beautiful with lots of bling!  :-)  Sonia chose a great dress!  Can't wait for people to see it!  The bride dressed in fine white linen is biblical afterall!  BTW--This is how I look at 11PM after sewing for hours.  LOVE the band aids on the fingers..  Bandaids keep one from bleeding on a white wedding dress after pricking themselves a few times with the needle!  :-)
Another teaser shot of the inside of the dress!  :-)  The bride COMING down the aisle SOON with the outside of the dress fully sewn and shown!  :-)

Sonia's Bridal Shower

Sonia's Bridal Shower went well last night.  Sonia and guests in attendance said they had a great time.  I was a bit more stressed than normal b/c of the below blog post about having to go to tire shop the other day threw my shopping scheduling in planning the shower, but considering it all it was a success.  Sonia got some great gifts from people, and chatting with everyone was fab!
Sonia cutting her cake.  (She's getting wedding practice, only the groom is missing.. :-)! )
Got to use my drink dispenser for the first time, but noticed it was leaking by the valve....
so Melinda Brown, the one w/the strong arm above, came to the rescue and tightened the valve and so everyone got punch and the drink dispenser is wonderful.  (Her husband (below) helps her work out.)  Drink Dispenser definitely of my better buys!  Will be using this thing a lot and buying another one for Sonia and my brother as they will be entertaining a lot in their home as well!
TIME OUT!  This pic of Conner, Melinda's husband, is NOT from the shower, but I snatched it from Melinda's Twitter post from last night...I'm guessing he was doing this while Melinda was at the shower last night also using her muscles.  :-)!

BACK TO THE BRIDAL SHOWER...rt to lt:  my excited mom that FINALLY, ha, ha, one of her kids are getting married...aka my brother!....Sonia, and myself
Sonia and myself.  Took me 33 years to have a sister!

Love this pic!  Staci's dog at the end of the night....looks like it's wishing in it's little doggie brain that we would all leave and go home!  :-)!
Staci's other dog at the end of the evening chose a better way to hint it was time for us to go home by laying on Staci's bed.  I love it!  Cute dogs and great Bridal Shower!

ALL PHOTOS FROM SONIA'S SHOWER ARE UP ON ROYALTRUECOLOURS for those with password access to that site.  Enjoy!

A Gift!

At Sonia's Bridal Shower, after all the guests had left except us....Sonia, my mom...and Mrs. Harrison....we stayed to help Staci and Aimee clean up a bit, Mrs. Harrison handed me a gift and said she had gotten me something too.  It was a cute wall hanging and matching blank cards to write in (everyone knows I'm a shoe addict ...think I have at least 50 pairs) Wow!!!  This is the first time that I've gotten a gift at a bridal shower not being the bride.  :-)!  I'm one blessed woman w/wonderful people that I know.  :-)  Mrs. Harrison is sooooo thoughtful.  I truly admire her and she is always thinking of others.  Hope I'm like her at least a little bit.  Great lady!  Thanks Mrs. Harrison!  I love it!

Delay on Designs & Recipes

I apologize for my blog followers who follow me for my recipes and new designs.  With my brother's wedding coming up that is what is on my mind, and I've been helping as much as I can with that, so I haven't had time to post any new recipes or designs.  They will be coming soon.  As a matter of fact, recently I did have time to create a yummy recipe, but I haven't had time to log it yet!

As if I Have Time To......

....have a new tire put on my car.  This morning when I was driving into work, I was on the freeway going 70mph when I hit a big pothole...correction, not a pothole a CRATER!......my car bounced up and starting shaking as I was driving.  I'm no dummy, so I slowed down to 60mph and realized I probably had bad tire damage.  When I got to work at HQ I looked and sure enough I did, a miracle the tire didn't blow!  I'm not ashamed to say I said a quick prayer to God that my tire wouldn't blow out causing an accident, and only then was when I knew I was safe, but I admit was still VERY irritated b/c come on, it's the interstate I was on, what is a big crater doing on the state interstate where folks are driving 70mph.  If I was on the moon I would have been fine, but come on...I'm on planet Earth......Oklahoma roads stink.   We can afford a pro basketball team, but can't afford the fix our roads.  Where's the wisdom folks.  ANYWAY, ha, ha, so tonight Sonia and I are going on more wedding shopping errands, so I had to take my car on break from HQ today to the tire shop and get a new tire on!  Buying a new tire was ok, having to take the time to buy the tire messed up my schedule.  I'm hosting Sonia's bridal shower tomorrow night and wanting to go shopping for that while she was NOT with me, but now I will have to try to do it tonight along with the wedding shopping with her.  Oh, well, a funny story to share that has probably happened to all of us once or more if you live in Oklahoma.  :-)!
